Dan's Folk Art

Folk Art Lures by Wallace Ganong 1890-1976 Carmel, NY
Wallace had a fall at work in the late 1940's which forced his retirement. He made these lures from the roots of trees in the NYC Reserviors. His son Wallace Jr, now 82, said he harvested the wood when the levels dropped and used it because the roots had no rings so the wood would not crack or shatter. Wallace made them for 2-3 years and only fished with his own lures. These beautiful lures turn up in old tackle boxes in the Westchester/Putnam County areas of NY State.
