Doug Carpenter's Collection of Carpenter Triple Depth Lures Doug sent the following info: "The lure has a hole in the belly in which you could insert one or two lead weights. A piece of metal slides over the hole to keep the weight in. Hence the name triple depth - no weight, one weight ot two weights. The earlier lures are wood and the later ones plastic. Another unusual aspect of the lure is the "harness" or metal clip that goes from nose to tail. The hooks are attached to the clip. The idea was that the fisherman could change colors by exchanging bodies without cutting the line and attaching the line again." They were made, starting in 1953, in Coffeyville, Kansas and eventually moved to Little Rock, Arkansas. |
